63 Acoustic
For the bedroom that faces the road.
The thickest leaf we make, with three seals instead of one and the drop seal at the floor included — the only series where that comes with the door. It is the door you want between a bedroom and a corridor, a road, or a teenager.
It is also the heaviest, which is part of why it works — and why it wants a proper frame and proper hinges. Both come with it.

The everyday door. The same 9 mm panel and the same solid core as the acoustic one, in a slimmer frame — which is why it costs less, and why most of a house gets fitted with it.
Bedrooms, studies, store rooms: anywhere the door needs to look right and close properly without being asked to stop traffic noise.

The slim one. And the only one that can disappear.
The narrowest frame we make — a hairline around the panel rather than a border. It is the door for a place where you want the wall to be the thing you notice.
It is also the only series that can be fitted flush: the frame is hidden inside the wall, so the closed door sits level with the plaster. Done properly it is the most expensive-looking door in the range.

Lives in steam. Does not mind.
A timber bathroom door is on a clock from the day it is fitted. Water gets into the bottom edge, the door swells, the paint lifts, and within a few years it is the worst-looking door in the house.
This one is aluminium throughout with a glass or solid panel. There is nothing in it for water to get into and nothing to repaint.

When the opening is wider than a door.
A swinging door needs its own floor space to open into, and that space is wasted for the rest of the door's life. A folding door stacks against the side of the opening instead.
Use it for a balcony, a dry kitchen, or a study that should sometimes be part of the living room.

Measure the stack, not just the opening
Folded back, the leaves take up depth at the side. Send us the opening and the wall beside it and we will tell you what fits.

Slides instead of swings.
The same argument as folding, with a different answer: the panel runs along the wall rather than folding. Quieter to use — and it needs a clear stretch of wall beside the opening for the door to sit on when it is open.
Ghost sliding hides the track, so the closed door reads as a panel in the wall. Glass sliding runs a glass panel on a slim visible track.

Check the wall first
The commonest reason a sliding door does not work is a light switch or a socket where the open door needs to sit. Photograph the whole wall, not just the opening.

Four things make a door quiet. Most doors get two.
You will be shown doors that claim to be soundproof. Here is what to ask, so you can tell.
How thick is the panel?
Thin panels let sound straight through, and the trade sells 8 mm as the upgrade. Ask for the number in millimetres, not the word "thickened".
Ours are 9 mm, on every seriesWhat is inside it?
A door filled with timber battens has air gaps between the battens, and sound walks through the gaps. A door can be thick and heavy and still be noisy if it is hollow in the wrong places.
Solid honeycomb core, no gapsDoes it pull itself shut?
A door that merely rests against its frame leaks sound all the way round. A 45° magnetic seal works like a fridge door — it draws itself in against the seal.

The gap under the door is usually the biggest leak in the room. Everything above it can be perfect and you will still hear the television.

The part you never see, and the part that does the work.
A cut through one of our panels. The aluminium honeycomb runs the full width with no voids — which is the difference between a door that stops sound and a door that merely weighs a lot.
Twenty-eight panel colours
Whites, greys, wood grains and stones. Each series has its own set of frame finishes, and only some can be had with a panel in exactly the same colour — the 55 Series can, the 63 and 60 are made to contrast instead. The catalogue shows which is which. Printed colours are never exact, so ask before you decide.
Twelve layouts, any series
Plain, a groove across or down, glass above, a louvre below, full glass, double doors. A style is only about where the glass and the grooves sit — any style can be made in any series, in any colour.
Forty-five days, from the drawing
We draw every door before anything is made, and you check it. The forty-five days starts when you approve that drawing, not when you place the order. If you have a date to hit, tell us and we will work backwards from it.
